Therapy & Rehabilitation

The Rehabilitation Department is comprised of a caring team of licensed Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapists. They work as an interdisciplinary team with Nursing, Dietary, Social Services and Activities departments to assist patients in reaching and maintaining their maximal potential of daily living.

 

 

 

 

PHYSICAL THERAPY: We focus on improving coordination, balance, strength, endurance, and joint flexibility to achieve optimum levels of functional mobility. Our therapists design individualized treatment programs that can include:

  • Joint Mobilization
  • Therapeutic Exercises
  • Orthopedic Rehabilitation
  • Wound Prevention
  • Gait Transfer Training
  • Range-Of-Motion Exercises

OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY: Therapy is to enable the patient to adapt their physical and cognitive capabilities to the skills needed for independence on daily self care, including dressing, grooming and hygiene. Occupational therapy programs may cover:

  • Home Evaluation
  • Home Living Skills
  • Hand Rehabilitation
  • Activities of Daily Living
  • Cognitive Perceptual Retraining
  • Transfer and Mobility Retraining
  • Energy Conservation Technique
  • Utilization of Adaptive Equipment
  • Upper Extremity Therapeutic Exercises
  • Fabrication of Splints, Slings and Orthopedic Devices

SPEECH LANGUAGE PATHOLOGY: Here our focus is on restoring the patient's ability to communicate, problem solve, sequence and organized thoughts. SLP also address swallowing difficulties and develop treatment and management programs for proper intake of nutrients. Individualized programs may also include:

  • Reading and Writing
  • Swallow Retraining
  • Naming and Word Identifying
  • Short and Long Term Memory
